Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT or CVT) - Advanced Imaging

Wake Veterinary Medical Center is seeking a Full-time Veterinary Technician skilled in Advanced Imaging. Schedule:

Day shift (10-12 hour shifts) and on call every other weekend.

Veterinary Assistant - Advanced Imaging Duties:

• Assist with the execution of Computed Tomography (CT), digital radiographs and ultrasound imaging.
• Follow direction for positioning, and sedating patients to capture clear CT images, digital radiographs, and ultrasound.
• Obtain patient histories, maintain accurate medical records, and provide detailed patient discharge summaries.
• Triaging each patient depending on severity and time of arrival.
• Safely restrain patients for procedures.
• Prepare patients for ultrasound, radiographs, and transfer to other departments of the hospital.
• Proficient in venipuncture and IVC placement.
• Preparation of patients, instruments, equipment, and medications.
• Monitor patients during anesthesia or while sedated.
• Provide a positive experience and ensure our patients and clients receive the highest quality care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities

• Ability to work with or around sick animals, potentially hazardous materials, cleaning chemicals, gas anesthetics, and unpleasant odors.
• Ability to always communicate professionally and effectively and maintain professionalism in emotionally charged / challenging situations.
• Must possess patience and empathy to address client concerns.
• Ability to work effectively with imaging equipment, veterinary medical equipment, computers, and electronics.
• Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift patients with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat most of the shift.

Education & Experience:

• Prior advanced imaging experience required.
• Veterinary experience required. Specialty/emergency experience a plus.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
