Job Summary:
The Veterinary Technician - Internal Medicine is responsible for assisting veterinarians in the diagnosis and treatment of animal patients with complex internal medicine conditions. This role requires a deep understanding of veterinary internal medicine, strong technical skills, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
Duties:
- Provide veterinary nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
- Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
- Calculate basic medical math.
- Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitor therapeutic response.
- Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
- Perform phlebotomy.
- Triage and obtain patient history.
- Assist clinician with diagnostic procedures.
- Patient care including treatments.
- Prepare prescriptions and communicate discharge orders to clients.
Skill/Abilities:
- Proficient in diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures.
- Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)?
- Strong understanding of veterinary pharmacology and internal medicine.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide cohesive and comprehensive patient care.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and restrain animals of various sizes and weights.
- Comfortable standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity to handle medical instruments and equipment.
- Ability to lift, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat most of the shift.
Education & Experience:?
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital, with a focus on internal medicine.
- Veterinary Certification preferred
